Joan has worked in the public, private and education sectors. She is a coach and writer with a particular interest in career, professional (including leadership and management) and personal development. Her clients come from a wide range of backgrounds and include: doctors, accountants, civil servants, people who work in IT and education. She is an experienced coach who is curious about people and helps them to work through their career issues and identify their goals. Joan’s clients say that she is enthusiastic, a good listener, supportive and motivates them to make the choices and decisions they need in order to progress their careers.
Joan has an MBA from the Open University and completed her doctorate in coaching and mentoring at Oxford Brookes university. Her thesis is entitled “Medical careers and coaching”. Joan is also co-author with Caroline Elton of a career planning and management guide called “The ROADS to success”. It is published in London by Health Education, Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
Joan is a member of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council, an affiliate member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), a Chartered Fellow of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and a registered Morrisby adviser. She is based in Thame, Oxfordshire.
